途中から流れが２つに分かれていることから「双美の滝」とも呼ばれています。 滝の中ほどの高さまで階段で上がることができ、なかなか迫力があります。 また、滝の上にある展望台からはオホーツク海や知床連山を遠望することができ、特に流氷の季節は絶好、見渡す限りの白い海原が感動的です。 「日本の滝100選」にも選ばれています。通年ご見学いただけます。＊画像をクリックすると次の画像へ
The Oshinkoshin falls fork into two on the way toward the basin, and streams into the sea with curving elegantly. So, it is nicknamed “Forked beautiful waterfall". When we put the nickname into Japanese, it is expressed "SOUBI-NO-TAKl”. The falls are rich in the water and dynamic, you can see it from route 334 along the shore. From the observation platform on the top, you can overlook the Okhotuku Sea and the mountain range in Shiretoko peninsula, far away. The observation platform is not noticed very much, but now, if you know this information, you had better visit this. The scenery from this is worth seeing. Especially, in winter, it is the most suitable to overlook floating ice. When you overlook white endless sea covered with floating ice, you must be deeply impressed.
その昔、このあたりに住んでいた先住民族「オロッコ族」から、この名がつきましたといわれています。 ウトロ港近くにある、高さが60mもある巨岩です。 170段あまりの急な石段を上っていくと頂上は平らで、岩礁が透けて見えるほど青く澄んだオホーツク海やウトロの町並み、知床連山などが広く見わたせます。 オロンコ岩のトンネルを抜けるとウトロ地区公設駐車場（有料）があります。 松浦武四郎顕彰碑はこの駐車場からウトロ港を望む位置にあります。＊向かって左に見える岩がオロンコ岩。右は三角岩です。＊画像をクリックすると次の画像へ

松浦武四郎
北方探検家で北海道の名付け親でもある松浦武四郎は、知床にも三度訪れ「知床日誌」でこの地を広く世に広めてくれました。この功績を讃え、没後100年にあたる昭和63年に顕彰碑が建立されました。
There is a big rock on the east side in Utoro harbor. It becomes an observation platform, and it is the most suitable for you to overlook around. To get to the top of the rock, you have to climb up steep steps. And the top is flat, you can move around to see all sides. Well, from there, you will see some scenery. For example, one is blue and clear sea, and it is so clear that you may see a rock under the surface. Another is a hot spring resort. The other is mountain range in Shiretoko peninsula to a large extent. And so on. When you overlook the blue and clear endless sea, you will feel really that you visit Shiretoko.
By the way, we hear that the natives called "Orokko" had lived in old times. It seems that the Oronko block is named after the natives.

This place is called "YU-HI-DAI". From early time, it is famous for the view of the setting sun. You can see a gentle endless coastline from here. And you can fully enjoy the view of the slowly setting sun over Okhotuku Sea, too. Whichever one or many, you surely enjoy... In the evening, both the surrounding scenery and you will be crimson in the setting sun. The setting sun makes your traveler’s sentiment much stronger.

Recently, this cape is getting much more popular as a viewpoint of the setting sun. The cape is located on the way from "UTORO" to "SHIRETOKO FIVE LAKES", "PASS OF SHIRETOKO". The visibility is very good. You can overlook not only the setting sun but also Okhotuku Sea, Utoro harbor. Often, you will see a pleasure boat or a fishing boat going on the sea, too. Their boat’s trace is shining in the sun, so, what a beautiful sea you see ! As you know, you can fully enjoy a view of Okhotuku Sea from Puyuni cape. By the way, the Puyuni cape is located near the Furepe waterfall, therefore, it is the most suitable for you to enjoy taking a walk around there.
この滝には川がなく知床連山に降った雪と雨が地下に浸透し、垂直に切り立った約100mの断崖の割れ目から流れ落ちています。ホロホロと流れ落ちるさまが涙に似ていることから、地元では「乙女の涙」という愛称で親しまれています。 知床自然センターから遊歩道を歩いて片道20分程です。また、積雪期は、歩くスキーやスノーシューなどでトレッキングができます。 近年すぐ近くにある滝が「男の涙」として紹介されていますが、こちらには陸上からは行く事はできません。観光船など海上からご覧ください。＊画像をクリックすると次の画像へ
Near Utoro lighthouse, we have a vertical precipice. And the origin of the Furepe waterfall is this place. It is about 100m high, and the clean water falls from the crevice of the precipice toward the surface. The streaming situation reminds us of tears, therefore it is nicknamed “OTOME-NO-NAMIDA". When we put the nickname into English, it is expressed "Girl's tears". The nickname is very popular in our town. Certainly, even if another town, the Furepe waterfall is called "Girl's tears" generally. This episode of the Furepe waterfall is characteristic of Shiretoko national park. Primitive nature in Shiretoko peninsula often gives such an episode us.
斜里町ウトロと羅臼町を結ぶ知床横断道路の頂上、知床連山の尾根筋にあたる標高７３８ｍの峠です。 ドライブコースとしても人気が高く、７月下旬でも見ることができる残雪の白が印象的。さらにここから見る羅臼岳の紅葉がまた見事で、天候が良ければ遠く北方領土国後島も望むことができます。 開通期間は4月下旬から11月上旬までですが、その年の気象状況によって変わることがあります。＊画像をクリックすると次の画像へ
The pass is located on route 334 from UTORO to RAUSU. Route 334 from UTORO to RAUSU is called "SHIRETOKO-OUDAN-DORO". The word means the road crosses "SHIRETOKO Peninsula". By the way, pass is 738meters above sea level. And telling about the view from that place, you are able to see the top of Mt.RAUSU covered with snow even toward the end of July. In autumn, you are able to see wonderful "Autumn colors”, red, yellow and so on. Especially, Mt.RAUSU is beautiful.In fine days, over the Nemuro channel, you can see “KUNASIRI ISLAND". Attention; The road is closed from the last ten days last ten days of October to the last ten days of April, because of snow.
原生林に囲まれてたたずむ幻想的な５つの湖です。 ５つの湖を一周できる遊歩道があります。周りの樹林や知床連山を湖面に写しながら静寂を保っているその姿は、まさに原始の中の楽園にふさわしく、数多くの植物、動物たちを目にすることができます。 五湖すべてを巡って約１時間、第一湖、第二湖だけなら約３０分です。 遊歩道のほか小高い丘の上にある展望台からは第一湖と知床連山の大パノラマが見渡せます。＊画像をクリックすると次の画像へ
定期バスは１日４本、ほかに知床自然センターからシャトルバスが20分おきに運行されております。利用期間：4月下旬〜11月下旬 利用時間 ：午前7時30分〜午後6時 （駐車場は午後6時30分に閉鎖されます）
In this area, five lakes are scattered. We call the gathering “SHIRETOKO-GO-KO". From the sky, the form of scattering looks as if God put the five fingerprints on this ground. "SHIRETOKO-GO-KO" is surrounded by primitive forest on all side, so there is something dreamy. Each of five lakes has different charm, and all keep silent. Each reflects the primitive forest and series of mountain on the silent surface. The appearance appropriates to paradise in primitive nature. In fact, you see both plants on moist plain and rare alpine plants around lakesides. We can say “SHlRETOKO-GO-KO" has a miraculous beauty created by GOD. The scenery is always beautiful. In spring and summer, they are filled with fresh and bright green. In addition to, autumn colors are wonderful.

Hot water sprung from the hillside of Mt. Shiretoko-Iouzan, an active volcano, and runs into Kamuiwakka river. Thus, the river temperature of Kamuiwakkka river is over 30 ℃ and seems like a hot spring.
